I am trying to replace my Serpentine (alternator) Belt on a 2000 Volvo S40
I have never had such a hard time as I am having with this model.
I have the tensioner tool needed but it doesn't seem to be doing anything and its very difficult to get in there and get not only the belt off but worried I won't be able to get it back on when I do..
Are there any tips, tricks or help anybody can help me with?
If you have diagrams or detailed instructions of all the steps needed..I would really really appreciate it.
Thanks so much!

thanks for the reply..i am still having some trouble getting the belt off though... i assume that changing this belt doesn't affect the timing belt at all and a little nervous to mess anything up..I have done this procedure on a couple other (non volvo) cars and was very very simple... i am not understanding what I am doing wrong on this S40--
I removed the cover over the headlight and allowed me access to the tensioner but the belt doesn't seem to be slipping off...should it loosely come off or do i need to apply any force when removing it?
if anybody can help me through the exact process, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks again-

Bit of a thread dig but a tip for anyone doing this. It's much easier to do from underneath.
Once the car is up on stands or ramps it's a five minute job, with no need to dismantle anything up top.
Just get a long 15mm ring spanner or piggyback a 17mm on a 15mm ring/open ended spanner for the extra leverage, plenty of room to move the tensioner through it's full movement from underneath to completely slacken the belt, slips straight off. Then position the new belt over all pulleys except the a/c, loosen the tensioner again and slide the belt onto the a/c pulley, adjust to centre it and jobs done
