s40 2001 won't stay running

I have a 01 s40 that is hard to start----------it misfires and cuts off------I found it will go if I immediately put in gear, still cutting off 4-8 more times until it finally gets going and works normally until car is cut off, then process repeats------I get code 700 and 8 other codes related to misfires--car has 115k miles
