Code P0102 MAF or VAF check low input
1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon. It starts, it surges and stalls out... Any advice on this situation would be a HUGE help. I am not even sure what a VAF is? Unplugging the MAF did not make any difference.

I have been also having MAF sensor problems and I found out from a Volvo specialists that the off brand maf sensor I put in there is usually not so good that they only use the Bosch factory spec Maf sensor. I got mine from IPD on this site for a pretty good price, it only took me about 5 minutes to change. You said it didnt matter if the connector was on the sensor? no change in the way the engine ran? Is that right? If so then that could be your problem, you should hear the engine bog down after you remove the connnector from the MAF sensor and mine at times would stall trying to put it back on. Also before you invest all that money for a MAF sensor I would look for any hoses from the air filter box to the throttle body for any cracks that can give bad signals to the engine computer for air fuel ratio. Vacuum lines can also cause that code. Good luck!
