I have a 2001 S40. I think I've replaced every power window regulator at least once. Currently, the right, rear window won't roll up...so after I tugged and tugged, and got it to close, i just put tape of over the switch so no one would roll it down.
Yesterday, the driver's window stopped working. But, the symptoms are different from all the other times. When I lift the switch, I hear something "flapping" inside the door. And the window will not stay up....it falls back down into the door. It's over 100 degrees in Texas....so I've reverted to duct tape to keep the window up.
I want to quit regularly giving my dealership $500 to replace regulators. I plan to keep this car a long time, so I figure I should learn how to take apart the door, and replace the regulator and/or power window motor myself.
Can someone point me to instructions/video/pictures on how to do this?
