Wire conection for hand remote starter

I would like to know the proper location to connect the 2 alligator clips for my push button remote starter on my 95 850. I have a no-start condition that I am trying to diagnosis. I want to ground out the spark plugs to determine if I have a spark. I have gas in the fuel rail (opened the schrader valve) and I presume I have good compression.

I did this procedure years ago o my 760 and 240s.

I connected to the 2 lugs on the starter solenoid. The front lug has a thick red wire and the rear lug has a thick white wire. However, when I did this I only heard a faint "whirl" sound" when I pressed the remote started button whether the key was out of the ignition switch or when is key was in and turned to the accesory position.
