diff in 240 and 242

I was curious, on my title it says my volvo is 242 dl, whats the differance between that and a 240? sorry for the dumb questions, im really green to the volvo game. Thanks in advance!

242 just means your 240 has 2 doors / coupe. 244 is a 4 door / sedan, 245 is a wagon. They count the wagon door as the 5th door.

Then just to confuse everybody in the mid 1980s Volvo dropped the door number from the badge and replaced it with 0. However, they did still have doors. Most owners who have had Volvos for many years still use the old designation.
