Hey guys,
So I want/need to replace my turbo, 1998 S70 Turbo w/198,000. Car has no pull from 100 to 130/110 to 140. Rpms raise but no acceleration. More details after work.
I'm mainly trying to find sources to get a rebuilt turbo, or new/used etc right now...
Any help, links are much appreciated.
I was going to do CBV diaphragm, TCV, clean maf etc etc. But now I'm thinking replace turbo, lines, intercooler.
So again. ANY suggestions are awesome. Thanks
I was just reading that an 18T will be slower to build boost and not as quick (more top end/rpm power) so maybe I'm just looking for a 16T. But if there are any other options for a 'quicker' car please feel free to suggest. Thanks again

New (used/rebuilt) Turbo
Are you sure that the turbo is the source of the problem? Inspect, repair or replace all the vaccum hoses before anything else. When these turbos fail, your motor oil is converted to large quantities of smoke. Do you see smoke?
History suggests that the turbo is amongst the last parts to fail.
Good luck.

Hmm, really? One of the last parts to fail?
I do not have any smoke (from exhaust or otherwise). I have lack of boost (especially at higher speed ~100km/h). At ~200,000kms of Newfoundland driving life, it seems like everything on this car needs to be replaced. My wastegate adjustment rod looks like...just a piece of scrap yard rust. I assume the CBV diaphragm is toast, as well as the spring/wastegate actuator and yea - probably some if not all vacuum hose.
You can't buy vacuum hose in NL, along with many other readily available things in most provs/states. It's rediculous.
I just wanted to skip the "is it this part of the turbo...is it this part"? And just swap a new(er) one in. Then rebuild the old and sell it or whatever. While I'm in there - i'd replace all the vacuum line and associated stuff...
Thank you very much for the response, appreciated

http://www.eurosporttuning.ca/ is in Canada and they will sell you all the silicone vaccum hose you need. Do this first and then post the results. Changing your turbo is very unlikely to change anything until you deal with the hoses.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Sorry it's been a while since I've been able to login. Moved, school.
Anyway, I might see if I can get some hose... but if I check/inspect the hoses (3 vacuum hoses) and they look good...I don't see me ordering any. On the other hand, if I were to get a new used turbo, I'd be replacing them anyway..so I guess I should just buy some. Hah
Thanks for the input.
