Lots of grey smoke from exhaust - turbo?
I have a 2000 V40 1.9 about 112.000 miles. It lets out tons of smoke. When it's been sitting over night and I start it it spews out lots of grey smoke. My mechanic says it's an internal oil leak most likely turbo or valve guide seals. Anyone have some feedback?

Your mechanic is right on the money.
If its worse after sitting, its usually the valve guides/seals (because oil weeps down the leaky part while sitting).
Turbo usually blows smoke worse AFTER accelerating (because they are sucking more oil in)

I took the car to Volvo and they did a compression test and found out that cylinder 3 had bad pressure. After replacing the coil and the spark plugs it worked perfect. When it comes to the smoke they said it was the smoke trap. I'll have that checked out and keep my string updated.
The oil trap is a fairly easy fix, but I have read (somewhere on here) that it is a pricey job for a mechanic since it takes some time. You have to remove the intake manifold. I still am going to go with bad vale stem seals. While it is not an easy job either, about $50 in seals would solve that problem.

It ended up being the turbo charger. I had it replaced and at the same time I had the the oil trap cleaned, however the mechanic said it was not the main reason for the smoke. Anyway, after having all these things done the car runs great!
