Hi all, I have looked through both my Haynes and chilton, this site and the interwebs for an explanation of how to remove the clutch cable at the clutch fork on an m47 5 speed transmission with no luck.
I need to replace the clutch fork dust cover The one on the car originally was too big and got sucked in and spit out of the bellhousing! All pieces (2) were found.
There is a large rubber bushing of some sort attached to the end of the cable and there is no return spring on this fork. I'm sure I must just be missing something simple here on how to detach the cable.
Thanks in advance for any insight!!

So, I ended up using a small block of wood with a very long zip tie stapled to it to hold the fork in the "engaged" (clutch pedal in) position. This created enough slack on the clutch cable to pull the counterweight (large rubber looking, but actually metal) piece off.
Then the ball end of the clutch cable pulls right through the last rubber bushing.
It's tight, but with needle nose vise grips I was able to secure more slack at the fork to help push it all back together once the dust boot was fitted properly.
