poor acceleration and a strange moan

Post by lindy8_man »

Well this is something that has been getting worse. I noticed a while back that when I stepped on the gas to accelerate to get on the highway, I have poor acceleration, and a strange moan sound under the hood. The sound reminds me of my 66 mustang when my radiator hose collapsed, and the water squeezed past the pinch. The hoses are in good shape, and I don't know why it would affect the acceleration. IT is happening more frequently.

I don't think it is related, but I still have an evap leak that I am hunting down.

Any ideas on that sound would be helpful!

That evap leak can put the system into limp mode which would explain the poor acceleration - it's like deploying the chutes. Even pending codes can trigger limp mode, have you scanned for any codes?

Jack,

IT is a good thought. But I don't have the indications of limp mode at the controlls. I mentioned the leak on the off chance that someone had experience with that and this moaning sound.
