Volvo 240 noisy engine Topic is solved

Hi!

I have a 1992 Volvo 240 and the engine started to be noisy no later than this week...tok tok tok kind of noise. Does someone know what this could be??? My car has around 350 000 Km and I hope to keep it for another 350 000...

Whereabouts is it coming from, the upper end or the lower end of the motor?
If it's happening at aobut 1/2 crankshaft speed, it's a valvetrain issue.
How loud?
Take a piece of tubing, put one end next to your ear, and carefully poke the other one around the engine compartment to see if you can isolate it. I can't stress the careful part enough though.
