Hi all
I have a 95 850 with a bad starter. The salvage sites all want to know if it is 1.4 or 1.7 kw, and I am clueless as to how to figure out the type. Bosch couldn't tell from the numbers I could find on the removed starter, but thought 1.4. One yard thought by the numbers I had it was 1.7. Anybody out there who can help?
Thanks a million miles!

Look at the engine serial number on the timing belt cover. Tell me what it is and I can look up which starter goes on your car. Also, is this car an N/A or turbo model?

Well, I did some searching on the Bosch site, and every possible 95 850 engine/ model type configuration calls for their same 1.4 kw rebuilt, so I am pretty confident with that choice. Going to get a used one from the salvage yard. Any reason to think otherwise?

VADIS also indicates 1.4 kw for your car. Why risk a junkyard part though when you can get a new starter for $175 here.miracledog wrote:Well, I did some searching on the Bosch site, and every possible 95 850 engine/ model type configuration calls for their same 1.4 kw rebuilt, so I am pretty confident with that choice.
