Serpentine Belt no longer fits

Post by garywg99 »

I just replaced alternator on my 1998 V70, still using original pulley on new alternator. Using a routing diagram from Hayne's manual. My serpentine belt now seems at least 8 inches to long. The tensioner does not even contact belt. Have I put something on wrong? Is there another routing that i am not aware of?

Volvo modified the routing of the serpentine belt to give more surface area to the alternator pulley. This is the revised routing of the belt.
