Loss of electrics

Post by Alice77 »

Hi,

I was driving today and had not gone far- about 5 mins down the road - and the ac cut out and then came back on again, another couple of minutes and we lost the acand the radio, a little further and we lost the dash and the indicators as well as the driver side window. We pulled over, checked the fuses ( which were fine) and tried again- the car started, all semed fine and we were off again ( although we did have a message to check the airbags on the dash). 5 minutes later the same happened again. We stopped and I tried to call the service center, which was closed... Started the car again- all was good other than the emissions warning was now on. 5 minutes later lost everything again. We made it home - but I'm worried about driving it further. Our Volvo mechanic isn't backuntil after new year... Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Sounds like a faulty ECM.

Hopefully just a loose connection or damaged wire causing it to fail intermittently, but ti sounds suspiciously like a bad ECM
