1992 Volvo 240 no power, clicking noises

So I have a 1992 Volvo 240 that won't start. I opened my car door to go to work today and immediately noticed something was off. I could hear a clicking noise coming from underneath the dashboard towards the middle right side of the car. The clicking noise was comparable to that of a selenoid. Upon putting the keys into the ignition, the on position had no power (still clicking noise), and the start position also had no power and no engine turn (clicking noise stops in this position of the key). I also noticed that with no keys in the ignition I could end the clicking noise by putting my light switch on the fog low beam setting. I speculated that possibly I have a bad battery, however I am no car guru. I just joined the site today and any help would be helpful. Thanks!

Have you checked the alternator?

Resolved. Alternator wouldn't sufficiently keep battery charged.
