93 940 - 3rpm Ugly Noise

hi everyone, I really need some help with this volvo I just recently purchased.

1) When I first purchased it the Idle was at 2rpm on start up and was having a hard time moving from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear once on the road.

resolved partly by adjusting the idle to sit at 600 - 700, the issue with changing over to 2nd or 3rd is only when the RPM reached 3.

so main problem, when reaches 3rpm makes horrible noise (sounds like there is alot of pressure on the engine) & stays there once reaching 80km/h and up. Please help!!

I had a similar problem on my 93 940. Check (and replace) the motor mounts.

Accidently said 740 But I meant 940.

How much do engine mounts cost for the 940?

I have changed the subject line for you.

Engine mounts can be done at home if you have a tool kit, jack and, most important, axle stands. Never work under a car that is only supported on a jack.

This tells you how to do the job.

As for cost, check our sponsors at the top of the forum. They are cheaper than the Volvo dealers. Let's face it, everyone is cheaper than the Volvo dealers. Most good car parts stores should be able to supply the mountings.
