Something in the Door handle on my 88 740 broke. I've gotten the interior panel off and the 2 screws on the rear/outside panel came out cleanly. The single 10mm bolt securing the front of the handle won't come out. It turns with varying resistance; and doesn't appear to be backing out. I thought it might be the gears in the socket wrench, however it acts the same with a wrench. I haven't seen the inside of the handle; but the resistance acts like the threaded portion of the handle separated from the handle proper? Any ideas on how to solve this?
I can't tell if the handle connection or the rod connection broke- there is no resistance on the lever when squeezed. There was a 'snap' when I attempted to open the door. Figuring how that all works will come; if I can get the handle off. I can't see or feel a loose rod in that area.
