Swapping solenoid from assist steering rack

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

My 99 has a VERY leaky rack. So, I'm having it replaced. My mechanic has a rack that is the non-assist type.. but my S80 has the assist steering rack with the solenoid on it. My question is.. can the solenoid from my rack be transferred to the one the mechanic has? I read somewhere else that it can be.. but I just want confirmation.
