Twice in the past two weeks, the dipstick on the wife's 2002 S80 T6 has popped up about an inch, and spat oil about under the hood. Not a lot of oil, but enough to make a mess. Took the car to the local dealer, who measured crankcase vacuum at 1.6 mB, and it should be 15 mB. Diagnosis was a clogged oil trap. Nothing that $1,112.00 could not fix. This amounts to a total cash-ectomy of my wallet.
Being somewhat resourceful and, more to the point, cheap, I was wondering if there is a less expensive alternative that I could perform. Can I access the hose to the oil trap from above? If so, it is possible to solvent flush the system, follow with compressed air, drain and change the oil, and see a substantial improvement?
HELP! Any quick fix for clogged oil trap?

I had a similar issue on my V70. I was able to keep the dipstick raised just a bit to relieve the excess pressure until I was able to get the oil trap replaced.
Be careful, this problem left unfixed can cause oil to leak from the seals. The seals will cost more to replace than the oil trap.
