Is there any evidence that putting a high air flow air filter (K&N) into a S40 (2001) will damage any sensors such as the O2 sensor?
Also does it actually improve the horse power or milage?

no it shouldnt,
yes marginaly both, just done mine & if i floor it, my fuel economy gets worse but if i cruise it is better
so more air must be getting to the engine for it to deliver more fuel
