2005 S40 water leaking from under drivers seat

Post by Litty »

I wonder if anyone can assist? I have water leaking (I believe from the a/c duct) from under the drivers seat into the passenger floor. I think it may be from a blocked outlet pipe. Has anyone had a similar experience or can anyone suggest what I should do?

I have used a wet/dry vacuum and removed about half a bucket full of water but need to rectify this problem.

Thanks for your assistance.

Last weekend I delt with the same problem on my daughter's S40 T5 late. I was as I have read on other sites the sun roof drain detaching from the fitting through the fender. I pulled the driver's carpet, pulled the 4 bolts to get the carpet off the front bolts, could have left the back ones just loose, this is not hard and is the only way to get all the water out of the foam rubber that is attached to the underside of the carpet. Then pulled the trim off the A piller and sure enough the hose from the left front sunroof drain was disconected from the black fitting, which goes through the fender. This hose is quite short and I imagin that cold and time made it pull out. There is not anything to hold it in place. I pulled it tight from the top down to the last retainer that holds it ot the steel piller and used a plastic pulltie to tighten this retainer to the hose. This left a little slack when the hose was pushed into the black fitting. I probably should have use some sealer on the hose and then pushed it into place. The black fitting is in the corner of the dash and not easy to reach neddle nose pliers helped. Just pull the trim off the A piller and is obvious. Gota love engineering like this! About as anal as the location of the cabin filter!
This problem is one of those if it hasn't happened to yours it will. A pulltie now could save the wet carpet latter. I should do this to the passenger side this takes about 2 minutes, if you don't have to deal with wet carpet!

I think the S40 and C30 have the same heater boxes. If so I believe the problem is the drain hose from the heater box to under the center of the car. On the C30 the hose is located behind the carpet in the passengers side. It is a very small flexible hose about 5 inches long
