S90 Drivers window operation activates central locking

Post by Jltrade »

1998 S90 drivers window triggers central locking only when window is being lowered continuously. I am able to defeat the symptom by lowering window in small amounts incrementally. Locking is not activated when driver window is raised and no other windows activate locking at any time.

The harness in the door is loose and is chafed and rubs on some metal somewhere. The latch assembly has switches that send ground to the lock module. The signal is a ground made by the switch. If the lock signal wire from the module is the one rubbing metal, possibly the window lift arms touching the wire, then it will lock doors. There are some cable ties that hold harnesses and one or more of those is likely broken.

Thank you Jimmy57 - diagnosis was perfect. Took door panel off and found chafed wire, probably touching regulator arm as window descended. Taped and secured wire. Problem solved. Thanks again.
