Good morning you all !!
This morning I was completing the replacement of the vacuum hoses in my 1997 Volvo 850 Base and found-beside the Airbox- a loose yellow tiny hose with and elbow at the end . I found hose come from the vacuum tree.
The Airbox have two little nozzles, one –the upper-of them is metallic and the other –the lower-is plastic, black.
My concern here is to what nozzle I must connect the loose hose?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Good night you all !!!
I want to clarify the topic I posted this morning.
I am looking for the 1997 Volvo 850 Base Air Cleaner Vacuum Diagram that shows to where the two hoses connected to the top of the Air Cleaner must be connected.
I did research at Ebay for an Air Cleaner and found one model same as mine that shows one of the hoses-not connected to the Air Cleaner- with an 90 degrees elbow at its end and is missing the other hose.
Thank you in advance for your help.

On my NA 98 s70 there were two hoses that went from the back of the air box. The upper one was smaller and made of hard white plastic, it had an elbow on the end. I think this is what your talking about.
So in other words, connect the hose you found to the upper port on the back of your airbox. I don't think it would even fit on the lower port, which is larger.
Also, there should be a vacuum diagram on the underside of your hood, I don't think more detailed vacuum diagrams exist. Good luck

Here is the standard setup on an NA 850:
- Vacuum line on the upper, metallic nipple goes to the vacuum tree.
- Vacuum line on the lower, black nipple loops around to the other side of the airbox, connects in there near the bottom (i.e. the corner down near the IAC valve).
It doesn't matter what line or end has an elbow and what doesn't, just make the vacuum line connections using hoses that don't leak. On my car I have discarded most of the original vacuum lines, just using black rubber lines or silicone lines.

Thank you JTP , Thank you ErikV11. The information posted was great and now I will find the hoses to replace the missing and broken lines.
By The Way ErikV11, what is the recommended hose size-silicone hose- to replace the vacuum lines?
Thank you again,
sothernmech

Sorry I am not really sure about the sizing. I picked up a kit with a few sizes, when something needs replacing I just use the one that works (snug fit on the ends). You could measure the ID of the existing hose, or take it with you to the parts store ...
