Mild scraping noise while driving 98 V70 XC AWD

Mild scraping noise while driving 98 V70 XC AWD

Hi folks,

I am hearing a mild scaping noise when I roll, starting at about 12 MPH. It's not a horrible, something-is-very-wrong-kind of noise. It's like something is turning and scraping some other part lightly.

What would be causing such a noise? Brake pads? I don't even hear it with the windows closed, but it's very noticable with windows open.

Thanks for any input folks, it's appreciated.

In case anyone is curious this ended up being a bent dust shield next to the rotor on the driver's side axle that was scraping against the rotor occasionally - bent it back into position and no more noise.
