s80 2.5 2007 petrol high reving in 1s 2 3rd gear

revs high in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear more than the high gear. It revs normal , but the longer you leave it in same gear it makes a real high rev noise.

Alan,

As you raise speed in the same gear the engine should sound like the revs (rpm) are increasing.
Are you hearing the engine rev up or something else?
