"bucking" at slow speeds/idle

Post by rswaty »

Hi everyone,
I've got a 1998 V70 T5 with roughly 155k on her. Runs like a champ for the most part, but has started "bucking" upon take off or at idle after sitting short or long periods of time. The bucking or "missing" seems to stop once I place it into neutral or park. It's not problematic yet, but it does concern me. It takes off great, gets 25-30mpg and seems to have plenty of power. Tranny shifts smooth.

Where do I start? ignition? Tranny? Or?

Any thoughts much appreciated!
Randy

Hi Randy,

Is the bucking for a split or short few seconds upon take off as you also say it takes off great?

At idle for a short or long period of time or engine off sitting for a short or long period of time?

Unplug the mass airflow sensor and try driving it to see if it still behaves that way.

I have done that before and I notice the car actually gets more power. The problem though is that when I put the MAF sensor back on, the car shuts off immediately. I searched up on Google about what the shaking and vibration at idle could be and some people say that it could be a vacuum hose. If it is, then which one is it and where exactly is it.

Sorry for the trouble :)
