Transmisssion Indicator Light

Post by Kirby J »

Hey Folks:
I am trying to change the indicator light on the sifter of my new to me 92 740. I have the center cover off. I have collected about $2.00 in old gummy change from under the console area and the seat rails. I can even see a few wires that look like there might be a light bulb attached to them. But I still don't see how or where to change the light bulb. Any advice or diagrams on how this auto shifter mech goes together would be greatly appreciated. ALSO, there was a solenoid looking device laying loose in the bottom of the shifter area. I expect it is part of the shift lock mech. How does fit?
Thanks for reading!

The bulb should sit under the shift display panel. The holder is a push fit into the hole.

The attached may help. The first page shows the proper location of the solenoid at the bottom of the shift lever - not laying loose down there.

The pages from VADIS show how everything fastens together.

Thanks B of D. The drawings were exactly what I needed.
It makes a lot more sense when I can see the assembly exploded. I do get a little nervous pulling and prying on old plastic when I am not quite sure how it all comes apart/goes together.
Now if I could just get my antennae to go up and down EVERY time instead of just sometimes.
