new battery caused issues?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Now that the Battery is fine try a computer re-boot. Take the ground cable off the battery and touch it to the positive post for a count of 10. Then re-connect and see if the items return to function.
Sometimes electrical problems makes some of the modules freeze up just like your laptop can. Just like your laptop, it can require removing battery power to get it to reset itself.

Don't know if this will work in your case, but try the lock/unlock X 3 with your remote. It resets non-op stuff that seems to forget what is supposed to do when a battery loses it's charge. This may be a panacea, but it sure seems to return functionality when battery issues remove it. Only today, after an arduous campaign to replace heater hoses and O-rings, I noted an absence of A/C function, central locking, sunroof function, and windows. The engine ran fine, but other stuff, not so good. I shut it down, got out and pointed my magic wand (remote) at the drivers door. (could have clicked it in my pocket, aimed at the ground, with the same result, it just looks better like this) Like Dorothy in Oz, I clicked it three lock/unlock cycles, and got all my missing function back. I think that my dog has fewer fleas too, but that may be just a coincidence.
Good luck.

meggs117, the above post may sound facetious, but it does work. The lock/unlock cycle, which I believe can also be done with your key, resets some computer hardware that controls the very stuff that you have lost the use of. I hope that it is as simple a fix as this. Good luck.

I'm not sure where 3 lock cycles came from but on 2001 and later Volvo added "transport mode" to networked cars and when battery is disconnected the car will default to transport mode. TM does put some modules in off or reduced function but GSM where gear position LEDS is located is not one of those. One lock cycle plus a 3-5 second wait exits TM and puts all modules in full function.
