Central Locking

Post by carguy200550 »

Hi I am new to your forum and hoping to get some help. I just bought a 2005 Volvo S40 2.4i and I am having some trouble with the central locking. When locking or unlocking with the remote or interior buttons the passenger side will not respond. They will manually lock and unlock with no problem, but not electronically. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I received advice at another forum(see link). However, the procedure was never confirmed. I am hoping to get a little more info.

When I had this happen, I think it was just a blown fuse. There are two fuse boxes, one in the engine bay, and one underneath the passenger dash. You should check out this wiring diagram.

Looks like there might be a fuse related to the keyless entry in the fuse box under the dash (F55, or fuse 55). See page 19. You could also try locking and unlocking the car w/ your fob 5 times to reset the fob.

As for the replacement wiring harnesses, I don't know enough about your particular car to comment. The guy said it's a known problem. Maybe see if there's a bulletin online from Volvo that confirms.
