I'm hoping I can get some help with this problem that is driving me crazy. When my 240 is in Park or Neutral, it responds just fine to the gas pedal. When I shift to Drive however the car starts to sputter and eventually will die. It starts right back up and does the same thing. I am not a mechanic, so I know just enough to get me into trouble. Any thoughts, anyone?

As a good first check with no more info that is provided: go inspect the ribbed hose from throttle to MAF sensor just behind airfilter box. If that hose is cracked when you put it in gear the engine moves to the right and it can open up a split in that hose and the air leak makes the reading from the MAF sensor go low and it effectively shuts off the fuel injection.
A broken motor mount makes the engine motion too much for the hose to withstand, not that the motor mount has to be bad for a 27 year old plastic hose to crack.

cracks in hoses to and from the idle control valve. One goes to inboard side of intake manifold and the other connects to the hose you inspected at the end attached to throttle.
