S40 wont start

Hi,

My friend has a 1993 Volvo S40, and this morning it wouldnt start. When the key is turned, the only thing that happens is one of the relays in the fusebox in the engine bay clicks, the engine doesnt even think about turning over.

Any common fault with the S40 I should look out for? Im more of a toyota guy myself, but thought Id take a look and see if I could help him!
