Flashing arrow w/ no OD

Post by Beiner »

I'm getting a flashing arrow and OD will not engage. It shifts smoothly through all the gears. I pull codes and get emissions codes and generic misfire codes (P0300, P0303 etc...) that I believe are unrelated. I get no transmission codes. Occasionally it'll rev real high in 2nd then finally shift into 3rd but that's intermittent.

However, when I reset the codes, the XC will shift in to OD and all is fantastic. I'm thinking PNP but I've raked the gear selector many times to no avail. Solenoid, perhaps?

It's been a good seven year trip with this XC. After a turbo, radiator, fuel pump, some tune ups, four kids and 75k miles I've put on myself, I'm not ready to give up on her... no matter what my wife says.

BTW, what ever happened to MIJ?

You will not find transmission codes on a Volvo with a standard OBDII tool. They're proprietary and can only be read by a special Volvo tool or software.

How's the fluid look? Sounds like a solenoid or line pressure problem causing the transmission to think the solenoid isn't capable of making the last shift.

Fluid's fine. It's little over filled but still pretty red and not burnt. I drain and refill about every 10k.
