Where is the cabin air filter in an 02 S60?

On a 2002 S60 it is basically under the glove box.

Remove the rt floor mat...everything is very close. You will need the space created.

I just changed mine and the instructions were included. From memory (not that grerat!) I removed the right side of the center console by removing the quick release on the rear of the side panel (move the rt seat all the way back and up and use a coin or flat head screw driver). Push the panel slightly forward, then outward to remove...DO NOT JUST PULL STRAIGHT OUT FROM BACK SIDE! It has plastic tabs.

The cover to air filter is a plastic horizonal cover held in by four vertical screws. If I remember correctly, there were two hex screws on the front of the air filter cover and two (totally blind) on the rear. Remove. (I used a mirror)

The filter is mounted vertically and slides downward to remove. Good luck getting the new one in straight. Mine was not a good fit at all.

Hope I did not forget a step!

Jim R.
