93 240 fuel pressure codes - speculation

My 93 240 has 200K miles. I have done extensive work to the car over the last 4 years.

My latest hurdle has been the check engine light alerting me to codes 231, 232, 221.
I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator, oxygen sensor and plug wires since I started getting these codes.
One thing that seems constant is that they are related to fuel pressure and the next thing I was going to do is check the fuel pump pressures.

What I want to ask is this. Since I can clear the codes and they will stay away for a few days, they always come back. I am starting to notice that they seem to stay away if the tank is fulll but come back after I draw the fuel down. On the IPD site the troubleshooting text for in tank pumps said that it is common for the rubber fuel line inside the tank can crack causing pressure problems. Could it be that, as long as the cracked hose is submerged in gasoline that there is no problem but once the crack is exposed the check enging light comes on due to reduced pressure?

Bill,

As the in-tank pump is reasonably easy to access I would start there. I have heard of this problem over the years and when I read this post I phoned my friendly Volvo tech for his take on it. He told me that it is becoming a more common fault on the older cars as he has done three this year.
