Hi;
First time on this site. I was a used car dealer for 38 years and now retired. I still like to play with Volvos,Saab and Audi. I just picked up a one owner 2004 Volvo v70xc. It is in great shape with the warranty book dealer stamped up to date with 150k. Timing belt replaced at 127k.
My question to the forum is, the alternator bearings are very loud and it needs to be replaced. I am sending the vehicle to a independent Volvo shop to have the work done and they want the replacement unit there so as not to tie up there spot. Every place I call to order one wants to know if it is 120, 140 or 160 amps. How can I tell what amp. before removing the faulty unit . The serial # is YV1SZ59HX41136909 if that helps.

Do I have a 120,140, OR 160 amp alternator?
