automatic seat in 2010 V50Drive

The seat moves erraticaly when the driver's door is opened. The pre-set buttons all work correctly.Ideally the seat should move back when the door is opened to facilitate exitting the car, but it does not always work, and moves forward as often as backward whether the door is opened from the inside or outside. Volvo declare that the desired action is not an installed function, and do not have a satisfactory answer to the question "why does it operate at all if it is not programmed to do so"?They have re-programmed the keys several times to no avail, so I am inclined to believe that it is the basic seat function program that needs attention.

No North American S40/V50, or other models for that matter, has ever had easy exit/entry feature like you are describing.
Did this car have that feature working properly before?

No. It either did not work , or worked erraticaly from new.
