xc90 struts on an 850?

So I need struts on the 854 and there are some xc90 struts literally laying on the ground at the local u pick it. Will these work?

I know everyone says to use the seats and mounts from the xc90, but do the struts work as well? It shows that the same strut can be used on a V70 as an 850, so I wonder, will it work?

Nope and nope!! Everything past 2000 was re engineered. Pretty much the only shocks that match with each other are P2 S80s, S60s and V70s.

But isn't a V70 essentially a Cross Country with awd? And I believe it is a '98.

I just realized that it is a CC not an XC90. So, same question. Will '98V70 CC work? If the struts are the same, would I just reuse my springs to account for the weight difference?

They will fit but would be taller and an educated guess would be that they would not work too well with shorter springs!!

If it makes you feel any better you can use XC90 strut mounts on the 850 due to the part number (30683637) from the XC90 now covering all models. This doesn't apply to the aftermarket units which are just copies of early build 850 spring seats.

I just ordered all the goodies from FCP. Doing A arms and links and all that good stuff while I am in there fooling around with the suspension. Car only has 115k on it and I am surprised that both the struts and mounts are bad. Our other 850 has like 204k with all the original suspension and it is 4 years older. Go figure!
