Hi I have a 2004 S40 with 98,000 miles on the clock.Recently I am having some intermittent starting problems.I can start the car and drive a few miles and then without warning it starts but sounds as if it is "flooding" and eventually cuts out.It has no power to accelorator and pumps out lots of smelly fumes.
I can then leave it for a while and when I return it starts immediately with no problems.
My garage thought it was the accelorator cable becoming choked up with gunge but having cleaned this at the last service last month the same fault remains .
Just wondered before I take it to main dealership if anyone knows what this could be ?
