Hi all,
My 1992 960 sedan has developed a rather annoying habit: most of the time it starts on first turn of the key, but lately often all I get is a click.
When this happens the reversing lights do work (so it's not the PNP switch, if I have interpreted the earlier posts in this forum correctly) and head lights and high beam work well, so there is plenty of capacity left in the battery. I have "rowed" the gear level up and down to try to clean contacts in the PNP switch, but does not mean it will start on the next try. The gearbox shifts very well, and the car runs very nicely indeed. The starting issue seems to be totally random.
Who can point me in the right direction?
Thank you, Erik.

Next time it happens try jiggling the key in the ignition. It may be that the electrical portion of the lock is worn.
