2005 S80 135000
First start of the day rarely results in this rough (hunting) idle. But when warm and I shut the car off for a few minutes and then restart, about 50% of the time, this rough idle begins immediately. It improves slightly in nuetral, but not normal. When accelerating or reving the engine, it seems to run good. The car never stalls or loses electric. Since it has started, the rough idle has been the same everytime. It has not gotten worse or better over time. Sometimes a shut off and restart will solve, but rarely once warm. If I wait an hour and restart, it will likely go away until I restart when warm again,

I had the same problem in my Volvo S80 2.4 petrol so i bought a carb and choke cleaner shut the car take key`s off let it rest for 5 min or so disconnect battery open the hood and take off the air filter tube in side off the throttle open the throttle with your hand and spray the throttle body with carb and choke cleaner than clean the dirt with a cloth put the part together connect the battery and start the car and let it run for a wile than job done this worked for me and also improve the fuel economy goof luck

Lance - from what I can tell from your description, I agree with the previous post. I think your throttle body needs to be cleaned. Check out the following threads about the ETM. Yours is a newer model, but should be similar:
