Not sure how many I have put in at this point but it is more than four. Regardless of shop or price I just can't get a pump that lasts. Over the years I went from Volvo service to private shops and it is all the same, a couple of years and coolant on the floor. Does anyone out there have experience with what actually fails? Is it an "O" ring typically that starts the failure and can it be replaced or is the fluid a sign of too little too late? Could it be just a gasket?
This car does not have a lot of mileage for its age (103k) and it is eating water pumps( at least that is what I am told is the problem). It seems pretty straight forward on replacement and I have tackled some relatively involved issues on my vehicles as long as I don't have to remove the timing belt I am ok with it.
I attached a photo where coolant has been puddled up. I do not believe the gasket above is seeping but I cannot be certain. Also I do not see it when the car is hot it just appears on the floor overnight. So I am not sure if it is an expansion issue or just evaporates because it is too hot. The rate of loss at this stage is low, by that I mean coolant level has dropped from max to min in about two weeks. Ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help.
