Finished PCV repl...car won't start

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Finished PCV repl...car won't start

Post by ppembe62 »

Help....

I just finished the PVC replacement and reconnected battery but car won't start.

When I put key in position #2, I hear fuel pump activate....car has full electrical power (headlights work, windows roll down, radio works & even has presets from before the project), however, when I turn the key to position #3, I get a loud click (sounds like bendix or starter solenoid) and then nothing....it does not crank at all....starter does not turn, nothing happens, lights don't dim or nothing.

I have tried disconnecting the battery & reconnecting with key in position #2, I have tried hitting lock/unlock with remote....nothing...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

So, when i checked this morning, the fear selector was in park. i had let the S80 sit overnight (with battery still connected)..went out this morning, cycled the unlock/lock from the fob couple times, put key in position #2, cycled the gear shift thru all gears a couple times, let fuel pump do its thing, and cranked it right over...

It is running!!!

Wow ... That PCV job was quite a challenge...the banjo bolts were a huge pain in the rear....

Btw...none of the major part stores carries the correct thermostat for this car...has anybody e Ed experienced that?

Thanks for the feed help.

OK...I jumped the gun on that last post...

This morning, she started fine, but I did not run it long nor did I drive it. I just idled in the driveway.

This afternoon, I started her again (first time was same click as above, but I cycled the gear shift thru the gears and it was good to start). I let it idle in drive way for about 20 minutes.

Then I took it out around the block. Ran ok, until I gunned it. It just died after gunning it. Now, it starts but won't idle and won't stay running...

During the PCV job, I removed fuel rail and replaced fuel injector o rings (only the ring on the end of the injector near the valve), i also disconnected/reconnected fuel line, and i cleaned & replaced throttle body with new gasket.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

I appreciate it. :?:

Sounds like time to hunt down an air leak. If its a T6, you may have blown off one of the intercooler hoses.

Thx Jblackburn,

How do you hunt down air leaks...while car is running?

Does it throw codes that can be read by obdii reader?

Thx

Check the large air pipe that connects to the inlet manifold as this can be difficult to secure correctly with the clip and will blow off if not attached correctly, if it isn't this pipe joint then follow the hoses/ pipes from the turbo to the intercooler then intercooler to intake manifold, one of them will have popped off - Mike
