starting problem

Post by dbgt202 »

I have a problem with my 94 850. For the past couple of months my car has had a starting problem. Once in a while when i try to start it, it wont start. Some times im filling up gas and then i try to start it doesnt. I wait a few minutes and then it starts right up. ITs been doing that like i said for a few months and today my dad moved if from infront of the mailbox to the driveway this morning and started right up. This afternoon i tried starting it to pick up my mom but it didnt start. This was around 1230 its no minutes to 8 and it still wont start.

does anybody know what could be a problem?

I am getting the code 232, and i also have a bad pnp switch..

Could those be the problem?

Check the mass air flow sensor. That solved my problem.

If it is indeed the mass airflow sensor, the car will start and run better with it unplugged versus having it plugged in. It could be the PNP switch though, as the car will not start if it thinks that it is in a gear other than neutral or park. My only other guess would be a fuel pump relay. When the car won't start, try to listen for the pump and see if you've got pressure at the rail. That'll tell you if your problem is fuel related.
