2005 S40 2.4 - Evaporator Cover leaks

Post by themx »

Hi All,
I have a question...

It appears my evaporator cover is not water proof.
A part of the condensation will leak through the evaporator cover.
First thing would be my drain should be stuck, but this is working good, since a lot of water drains down through the evaporator drain.
Also my pollen filter is completely dry, so nothing is coming from the outside

So after further investigation I saw that the lowest screw of the evaporator cover is not that tighten anymore.
I think this is my problem.

Is there somebody else who had this problem, or somebody else has a solution how you can fix this the best way?
Because a lot of condensation is coming throug the evaporator cover on long distances.

Thanks in advance

On the picture:

Red circle = the screw that will not thighten anymore
Green stripe = point where condensation comes throug.

Clean the drain. The water should not be high enough to leak from the cover. You can get a wad of lint and schmutz that slows how fast it drains and high humidity can make for condensation collecting faster than it can drain.

Thanks for your response jimmy,

Well can you tell me how clean it should suppose to be, because i can even feel the air go out of the drain. Also the condensation is on the evaporator on the pollenfilter side.

So i also have the feeling that it tries to blow it to the otherside, and then passing the evap cover...

Is it wrong that the evap has condensation on the pollenfilterside? Or can it be stuck there?

Thanks

Were you able to solve this issue? I have the same issue with water leaking from the evaporator cover.
