How to get more replies from your posts?

I'm a new member but I notice that my posts do not get much feedback. I'm not a mechanic and I wish I could type the lingo better. How can I write my posts better to get more senior Volvo experts to comment on my problems? Do video or pictures help get more responses?

Without reading your posts (yet,

), you may bump a topic twice a day. Just write "bump" as a reply to your topic, and it will rise to the top.

Photos don't hurt, as do(n't) lists of recent work done on the car, history on the car, and any feedback you've gotten from mechanics or mechanically-inclined friends.

something I like to do with emails at work is bulletize. I think it applies to posts as well:

- changed the timing belt
- changed water pump
- now car won't turn over

makes for an easier read than a long drawnout paragraph. Course it could just be my ADD kicking in!

I read all your posts and you've been getting very good and qualified answers from some of the experts here. Did you follow their advice?

In one post regarding your insrument cluster it was advised that you replace the electrical portion of your ignition switch.
I see now that your car dies with no power. If you had followed that advice you may have avoided a break down.

Also regarding a suspected thermostat and coolant leaks why not just simply replace a $20 part and see if that helps? It's a lot cheaper than having to replace a head gasket if it totally fails due to overheating.

We are all making educated guesses here and yes a more point like format as suggested will make it clearer for other members to answer but so far advice has been pretty spot-on.

To Mike's point, if I see a post that has an answer that I would have given I don't respond. Don't confuse the number of replies to a post with the quality of the reply (or replies) that are received.

It happens from time to time, but it is rare that a post goes completely unanswered here.

If this happens, please feel free to "bump" up your topic. Most people will try to answer your question.

I'm with Lee...we're both fairly busy, but if we see something has already been answered by another member to a reasonable extent (or we just don't know), I don't answer. No need for unnecessary posts!

Thanks for the valuable tips and suggestions.

I think the moderators do respond with great advice. Also I understand that members should try to make a complete topic because it is hard to write an educated guess and not seeing or having important facts to respond back.

Also I'm learning to use the search forum BEFORE I make a post in my car series and found similar posts who already have same problems I run into day to day.

Great advice - there isn't MUCH someone hasn't encountered with one of these cars before.
