1999 S80 Transmission

Hi, I noticed a jerk between 120 - 140 while speeding with full throttle. But on normal throttle if I goes 120 - 140..No jerk. Oil is nice and red without any burning smell...but there were some bubbles on the dip stick.

Any ideas why jerk..or I let it go as normal

All transmission oils have some anti-foaming agents. I would say try a drain and fill and if the jerk goes away or is lessened you know your current transmission fluid does not have a good enough additive package for pushing the car to its limits even though it is in good shape.

original tranny? and is it a T6?

Rerobin66 I got exactly the same car as you have. What do you mean by original tranny, my tranny was changed last year with 2003 model volvo as per mechanic said. No it is not T6. 2.9 Non turbo.

The GM transmission that was used in this car under performs and wears out too early. I had to have mine rebuilt only 3 months after purchasing my used volvo. It would, jerk, slip, hesitate, etc. and it was all because the tranny was going out. I haven't had any of those issue since it was rebuilt.

so mine experience was the same...lost tranny on 145K KM. But since my mechanic replace with used tranny ....so what is your suggestion ...shall I change the oil with origianl Volvo or Mercedes ...bcz currently it has Castrol III with Lucas transmission additive..until I have put 1 and half bottle.

It is worth a try to change fluid and filter, but it is possible that the used transmission is also going out now.
