Car wont start , 98 S70 GLT 145K

Post by S70 Guy »

The other day when i started my car , I noticed a small clanking, whining noise from the front end. It lasted a moment or two after the engine was running then stopped. It came from the front end. went to the store, started it again, same noise this time it did not stop right away. Lifted the hood, sounded like it might be something stuck in the fan. Nope. rev the engine a little, the noise did not speed up with the engine, I assumed that meant it was not internal. sorta sounded like when a car is started and the key is left in the starter position too long, like new drivers do. so I thought it might be a sticking starter on a cold morning. Made two more stops, the noise never got loud, but at lunchtime the car would not start at all, wouldnt even turn-over. Could it be a starter or selonoid. Does anyone have starter changing diagrams or no where to test it at or where to just replace the seloid at? OH YEAH, When I bought the car a month ago it was starting really ruff, YOu had to hold it in the crank position with foot slightly on gas, I changed a few things and had it starting with out foot on gas on the first turn, could the starter be wore out?
Just replaced:
Battery
Plugs
Wires
Cap & Rotor
Fuel Filter
Air / Cabin Filter
Oil Change
