2010 XC-90 Low beam retaining spring

Post by caltn »

Trying to replace low beam bulb. Stuck at retaining spring. Manual says, "Loosen the bulb's retaining spring by first moving it to the right and then moving it out of the way."

I don't see the spring; nothing wants to "move to the right"; I assume the spring is under the rear (black) part of the old bulb, but all I see are three pegs and two look like rivet tops holding down a metal "bracket".

It shouldn't be this hard, so I feel foolish for not being able to see the spring.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Update: I figured it out. The entire bulb turns. I grabbed it with vice-grips and turned it a little less than a quarter of a turn and it released. Changed bulb. Job done.

Thanks.
