1992 960 wagon Ipd anti-sway bars: worth it?

Post by tomatoes4all »

Hello all,
I am considering the Ipd anti-swaybars for my 1992 960 wagon. I am not the racing-type, but my 960 wagon, well, sways when taking round-abouts and during faster cornering, quite boat-like. I am looking for opinions to help me decide if it is worth it cost-wise, as shipping from Ipd to Australia adds $130 to the total cost, and $500 is a lot in hindsight if disappointed with the end result. Could anyone shine a light on this, please? Thanks, Erik

Locate OE rear bar from up to 1987 760 or up to 1992 740 sedan or wagon. I located a 19 mm rear bar on a 1987 760 sedan. I have this and a 24 mm front bar from a 1992 960 sedan installed in my 1988 760 Turbo wagon.

Thanks Lummert, I'll try to find one at the wreckers in my area. Cheers, Erik.

Hi all,
The answer to the original question is: Absolutely! During Ipd's clear-out sale these were on special and I got the front and rear bars. What a difference this makes to the car. Very tight in corners, barely any body lean (well, compared to the original set-up, it is a 960 after all..), the limiting factor is now the grip of the tyres. Earlier last year I replaced most of the front bushings with polyurethane, which made a positive difference as well. Overall, it was well worth the effort and cost. Cheers, Erik.

Hi Lummert,
Both are 25 mm diameter. Cheers, Erik.
