2006 XC90 Replacement Discs on XC90 with Xenon lights ?

Post by Bikewatch2000 »

Hi i wondered if anyone could answer my question ?

I have been told by an ex volvo service engineer that cars with xenon lights have a potentiometer on the rear hub somewhere that is used to link to the automatic headlamp (xenons) leveling system.
he told me when replacing the rear discs it automatically lights up a braking system warning and that this light is only extinguishable by visiting a volvo service centre.
Anyone have any further knowledge or experience of this ?

Also i assume this would not be an issue when replacing the front discs ?

thanks

I have a 2008 model with the Active projector style Xenon lamps. I replace both rear and front discs a few weeks back. There was no issues with warnings or any trip to a dealer for a reset.

If you have the vehicle on a lift with suspension fully unladen and the sensor at extreme bottom position and you leave ignition, on then you can set codes and have warning messages on DIM.
No need to have key on for rear brake work while on lift.
On P2 models (except 99 S80 built before 97W50) the key must be in position I for steering to be unlocked for turning wheels for better access when doing front brakes. These cars can, but usually don't, set codes when brakes are done up front.
